The deputy governor of Ondo State, Ajayi Alfred Agboola on Wednesday March 15, 2018 called on the National Assembly to resolve whatever issue its has with the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in order to strengthen the fight against corruption. He stated
this while receiving officers of the Commission from the Benin Zonal Office who were in his office on courtesy visit. Agboola who received the EFCC team on behalf of the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu c
ommended the efforts of the Commission in the fight against corruption. Hear him, “The EFCC under President Buhari has achieved a lot… fighting insurgency is much easier than fighting corruption.”
Lamenting the level of corruption in the country, the deputy governor observed that for the mercies of God Nigeria would have been no more as some few individuals had cornered the resources of the country. He assured that the State government would work with the EFCC in the execution of its mandate.
Earlier, Mailafia Yakubu, Benin Zonal Head said the visit was to seek the support of the State government in fighting corruption. He said the people need to take ownership of the fight as the EFCC alone cannot exterminate corruption from Nigeria.
In a similar development, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju called on Nigerians and men of the Nigeria police to join forces with the EFCC in the fight against corruption. The Police boss expressed delight with the successes recorded by EFCC.
